5 (Green) Pick-Me-Ups to Beat the Winter Blues
Posted on 22 January 2015
With the cold weather in our midst, it is easy to feel sluggish, down, or tired. To beat the winter blues, we have 5 pick-me-ups that are both good for the environment and good for you!
Take the opportunity to clear out your closet and score some pre-loved gems with your friends and family this winter. Decorate the living room, prepare some snacks and drinks, and invite some good company over with their no-longer worn tops, bottoms, and accessories (in good condition) for a clothing swap. Once you are done, you can have unclaimed clothing donated to the local charity. Let’s make closet cleanouts fun!
Do you have leftover mason jars, egg cartons, or recyclable goods from the holidays? Here is a round up of our favourite DIY crafts around the web. Grab your friends or your children for a fun night-in of crafting and bring out that eco-artist inside of you.
Don’t throw away your old calenders! Use calendar art to dress up your walls.
Get creative with lettering and labeling those old jars!
And lastly, a whopping 100 Ways to Repurpose Mason Jars!
There are lots of great restaurants around town that are serving up local produce and wonderful winter creations on their menus. If you are in Toronto this winter and are adventurous with food, go grab a friend and check out our city’s annual Winterlicious event to play with your tastebuds!
Go natural with homemade facial masks that are good for your skin and for the environment. We especially love this honey and oatmeal mask for dry winter skin, and how about this coconut oil and sugar facial scrub?
Let us bring some of that warmth and colour into Winter! To stand out against the Wintery dark hues and whites, try on our LNBF’s Kobi Scarf or Kobi mittens (they come in 3 colours!). All of our collections are made from eco-friendly materials like bamboo and organic cotton so you can be stylish and green, all at once.
