How to Wear a Mock Neck

Posted on 21 December 2015

You've seen this trend on blogs, runways and the chicest Instagramers: the Mock Neck. Hitting between the traditional turtleneck and a crew neck, this neckline style brings us back to the mod 60s with a hint of modern minimalism. Here are 4 different ways to wear the season's hottest neckline.

1. Under Chunky Knits

Our Maria Mock Neck top works wonderfully as an under-layer for heavy knits. When mixing layers, look for a poncho style or sleeveless sweater vest to show off the coloured sleeves underneath. We have paired this outfit with our best-selling Suri Leggings, and knee-high grey suede boots, and a purple doctor bag for a fashion-forward outfit.

2. Paired with Gold

A black coloured Mock Neck Top is the ultimate in sophistication. Because the neckline offers a blank canvas to pair some statement jewellery, a chunky gold necklace works well here. We've paired this with a metallic gold pleated midi skirt for a perfect New Year's outfit! The 80-20 rule applies here, 80% black with 20% gold accessories.

3. With coloured textures

Our Berry mock Neck is an updated burgundy colour, which works well underneath a beige wrap or a long knitted cardigan. Colour-match your accessories to your Mock Neck top, but be sure to use a variety of textures. We've paired this with a burgundy floppy hat, suede booties and a leather tote bag. A large plaid scarf and brown Ray-Bans help tie this outfit together.

4. With Open Cardigan & Leggings

The Maria Mock Neck works well underneath our sleeveless Rhythm Hoodie, which is a longer-length cardi, with a jacquard pattern. This balances the solid colour and taller neckline. Wear it with our slick Annabelle Leggings or Darcy Pant and brown Sandstone boots for a casual-chic outfit for running errands.
