Our Fabrics: Viscose Bamboo Fabric Textiles & Benefits

We strive to develop quality garments that are ethically-produced, organic as much as possible, and long-lasting. We know too well of overstuffed closets and last year's unworn sale items. That is why we seek to make staples that last for years to come. We purchase our organic fabrics from Oeko-Tex 100 certified suppliers to make sure they do not contain harmful substances. We recognize that any manufacturing and shipping process will impact the environment in some way and though we are not perfect, we are continually looking for ways to reduce our ecological footprint. To see how we are doing just that, read our FAQ.

With its luxurious drape and softness, there are lots of reasons why viscose from bamboo is our sustainable fibre choice. Lightweight and breathable it is an excellent option for people with eczema and sensitive skin.

Bamboo is one of the fastest growing and sustainable plants in the world, yielding 10 times more material per acre than conventional cotton. It can grow with very little water and no pesticide use, meaning less chemicals that drain back into our water system.

The viscose from bamboo fibre in LNBF garments is certified organic by OCIA (The Organic Crop Improvement Association). Our mills use a “closed-loop” process, which re-uses the chemicals and byproducts created during manufacturing to prevent any toxic chemicals from being released into the environment.

Other Fabrics We Use:

Most of our styles feature viscose from bamboo as the main material, however you can find blends of organic cotton, tencel and modal in certain garments. These are all organic fabrics with a strict manufacturing process that minimize the impact on the environment.

Organic cotton is an outstanding fabric. Naturally grown without pesticides and chemical fertilizers, unlike conventional cotton it doesn’t harm the environment or the farmers that produce it. Organic farming methods allow soils to naturally replenish, which protects the health of the soil, the groundwater and the biological cycles.

Tencel, otherwise known as lyocell, is a natural fibre made of wood pulp from sustainable tree farms. It is 100% biodegradable and produced by an sustainable solvent-spinning process that recently won the European Award for the Environment. Tencel textiles are produced in a “closed-loop” process which reuses or decomposes all by-product solvents and emissions. The outcome is a fabric that is more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk and cooler than linen.

Modal is made of reconstituted cellulose fibre from beech trees. Like Tencel, it’s 100% biodegradable. Modal is durable yet super soft. It also has fantastic drape qualities – which is especially great for figure-flattering styles. And with the fibre’s natural ability to hold dye, clothing made with modal stays vibrant even after many washes.
