We want to help take better care of our planet. At LNBF, we choose materials that better preserve and protect the environment. That's why we use viscose from bamboo that is certified organic by the OCIA (The Organic Crop Improvement Association).
So why bamboo? Here's our top 5 reasons why!:
So, why bamboo? Here's our top 5 reasons why:
1) Fast-growing and highly renewable.
Bamboo is a type of grass that can thrive in a variety of climates. Known as one of the fastest growing plants in the world, bamboo can grow up to 4 inches per day. A more compact and resourceful use of land: it also produces up to 10 times more material per acre than conventional cotton!
2) Nature without the hassle.
Cotton often requires fertilizer, chemicals and irrigation to grow properly. Our bamboo does not require any of that. It grows quickly and naturally, without further use of water resources. To top it all off, it is even highly self-regenerating, negating the need to replant after harvests.
3) Pesticides? No thank you.
Naturally pest-resistant, bamboo plants do not require harmful chemicals to grow. By avoiding the use of pesticides, we also avoid the infiltration of these chemicals into our water. This helps in maintaining a cleaner hydrologic cycle and preventing water contamination.
4) A high carbon-capturing plant.
Bamboo absorbs carbon dioxide and can produce up to 30% more oxygen than trees. Even the atmosphere benefits from bamboo!
5) Kinder to the environment.
Bamboo forests become an important part of the ecosystem. Plantation crops such as cotton often take up much land area, without returning much to the soil. However, bamboo’s vertical growth means it saves space and benefits the ecosystem by providing habitat and life for other species.
